Hi, we're Commonwealth Boat Rentals, LLC, and we've been providing delivery/pick-up service for boats & jet skis to our customers for over a decade.
Our boats and Jet Skis
We have 17 total boats and 9 jet skis:
(9) 50+ MPH jet skis, 3 person, $385/day to $545/day, lower daily cost if you keep it longer
(5) 150 HP Hurricane 19’– 20’ deck boat, 10 person $435/day or $344/day for a 6-day “week” ($2065)
(7) 225 HP 23’ deck boat, 12 person $495/day or $394/d for a 6-day “week” ($2365)
(5) 225 HP 16 Passenger, 25-26’ Tritoon Pontoon $572/day or $453/d for a 6 day “week” ($2715)
Jet Skis:
Our jet skis are the 50+ mph Sea Doo GTX's and Yamaha Wave Riders.
They are all 3 passenger models, capable of 50+ mph and can easily pull a skier or tube. Keep in mind that the 3-person capacity includes those towed, so typically you have a driver, a spotter, and a skier or ‘tuber’. We also bring an anchored buoy, so we can anchor it in about 3’ or water in front of your home. We've specifically selected these because they are the best riding jet skis available. Very stable, yet fun to ride.
Jet ski prices:
$545/day for 2 days (pls remember-our ‘delivery charge’ offsets only a small part of our delivery cost)
$485/day for 3 days (please remember that our jet skis are better)
$440/day for 4 days
$410/day for 5 days
$385/day for 6 days
[if you’ve rented jet skis before you likely paid more for lower horsepower skis!]
For boats & jet skis there is also a pick-up/delivery charge of $80 (private side), $95 (Public side, East of the 208 Bridge) or $120 (West of the 208 Bridge to the end of our delivery area). There is also 5.3% Virginia sales tax and a $600 damage deposit.
If we must launch at a marina to deliver your boat we will ask you to reimburse us for the launch fees (typically $12).
Ourminimum is a 3 day rental for boats and 2 days for jet skis. For 3 day rentals we frequently look to rent the first half of the week before considering a rental for the second half – or we could end up only renting 3 days that week. We offer over 20% off when you rent for 6 days (pay for around 4 ½ days, get 6). This typically works for most customers. For rentals less than 6 days we generally provide the boat for the number of full calendar days you requested.
For a 6 day “week” a customer with a Sunday to Sunday rental house would have a boat a minimum of Monday to Saturday, typically longer. We find that customers don’t use the boat much on their arrival or departure day, so there’s no need to pay for a 7th day.
For 6 day rentals, we endeavor to provide you the boat for as long as we can, frequently delivering it the afternoon before your first rental day (especially if you arrive early) and often picking it up the morning after your last rental day. Some houses rent Fri to Fri weeks, Sat to Sat, or some Sun to
Sun, which necessitates the ‘6 day week’. Sometimes scheduling is tight, so we guarantee to provide the boat before noon on your first rental day, and the earliest we’d pick it up is 4 p.m. on your last rental day. We will ask for your approximate arrival and departure times to allow us to schedule you to have the boat as long as possible.
All boats have Bimini tops to keep you cool and are equipped with orange "string type" life vests, but we also inexpensively rent 'water play' 3 or 4 buckle ski vests.
Which type of boat best suits your use? Pontoons are great as a party platform for cruising/anchoring with large numbers of people, or fishing. Even though our pontoon boats have ample horsepower for water sports, I do not suggest them if that is going to be their primary use. They are too high up off the water, create too little wake, and turn like battleships. This makes it difficult to return quickly to someone in the water and makes it impossible to wakeboard or to create tubing excitement by driving back over your wake. Creating an exciting tube ride with wake ‘bumps’ is MUCH safer than using speed. For 10 passengers, the 150 HP 20-21’ Deck Boats work well, and for larger groups a 225 HP 12 passenger deck boat is ideal. Our 225 HP deck boats are John’s favorite for water sports.
We provide tow harnesses for all boats, so it is not necessary for you to purchase one of our $15tubing ropes, but we still highly recommend them. Our ropes break under extreme stress, while commercially available ropes have 3000# to 4000# break strength. Use our rope, hopefully it breaks when appropriate and protects your equipment. If it does break, just tie it back together & go on your way…
Tritoon Pontoons have 3 ‘tubes’ underneath so they are more fuel efficient than 2 tube pontoons and can actually partially “bank” a turn (thus more maneuverable). However they ARE pontoons, and as such they pretty much turn like battleships. Our Tritoons with “lifting strakes” (that significantly enlarge the surface area in contact with the water) can plane quickly and easily maintain speeds around 15 MPH while remaining “on plane”. These low speeds are ideal to take young children tubing, skiing, wakeboarding, etc.
The 225 HP OB 23' 12 passenger Deck Boats are spacious with a full 8 ½’ in width and square-ish in the front to make them even more roomy. They have a swim platform on the front with a ladder (also one on the stern). They are low to the water and ideal for water sports and cruising. We suggest discharging and taking on passengers at the bow swim platform, far from the motor. Our customers also find that front platform ideal for helping children get situated into their ski or wakeboard boots. These boats are easy to get into from the dock as well, with small ‘steps’ rather than the significant drop off you encounter when going over the gunnel of a ‘run-about’. Plenty of power to pull up a skier, even with a crowd in the boat.
Our 150 HP OB Hurricane Deck boats are around 19' long and carry 10 passengers. Full 8 ½’ wide with a rounded bow make them very roomy as well. All have front swim platforms. Our customers have called them ‘cute’. They can be set up to fish (with optional captain’s chair or chairs), cruise or ski.
Please let us know what boat interests you - or feel free to call us to discuss what might be the best choice given your group’s needs.
Normal payment terms are 1/3 of the amount due with the prompt return of the Rental Agreement, 1/3 of the amount due 6 months prior to the rental, and the last third 3 months prior to your vacation. If your rental is in less than 6 months away we typically go with 2 payments, and request full payment with the Rental Agreement if your vacation is less than 4 months away. We also make special arrangements that work for everyone. The boat is inspected immediately after your use and deposits are promptly refunded (assuming you have taken proper care of the equipment). The security deposit is typically just paid with the other charges. We prefer checks, PayPal Friends & Family or Venmo. If you wish to use a credit card, we ask that you cover the processing fee charged by the credit card company, currently 3.5% (PayPal will charge you a lower rate).
Most house check-ins are around 4 or 5 p.m., and check-outs around 10 a.m. There are times when we have as many as five concurrent deliveries or pickups. Please allow us a little scheduling flexibility.
Please let us know how we can further assist you.
